Research Interests

Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) / Digital Twin (Machine Learning) / Experimental Design and Analysis
Computational fluid dynamics / Digital twin / Experimental design and analysis is an important tool for design and optimization of chemical engineering and biomedical engineering applications. Computational fluid dynamics is one of the branches of fluid mechanics that uses numerical methods and algorithms to solve problems and analyze phenomena that involve fluid and chemically reacting flows. Digital twin is virtual replicas of physical devices before actual devices are built and deployed. Experimental design and analysis is statistical method that uses for evaluating the effect of independent variable(s) on dependent variable(s).

Fluidization / Multiphase Flow
Fluidization / Multiphase flow is a process whereby a granular material is converted from a solid-like state to a fluid-like state. Currently, there is much interest in the potential of fluidization / multiphase flow for energy conversion, chemical substance transformation and environmental pollution application. However, the process efficiency drops below the desired value. To use this process productively, it will need a substantial understanding and improvement.

Carbon Dioxide (CO2) Capture and Utilization
Emission of CO2 from coal-fired power plants has increased over the past century. It is acknowledged that CO2 emissions make the major contribution to global warming and their reduction is needed. There are three approaches for capturing the CO2: post-, pre- and oxyfuel- combustion systems. A research study here is focused on post-combustion system. Both the solid sorbent and the sorption process are developed to increase the CO2 removal percentage. In addition, the CO2 utilization is interested to convert CO2 to other valuable products.
