The following explanation is in the context of Thailand. Chemical Technology is an academic branch in applied science established 63 years ago (est. 1959) at Chulalongkorn University. This academic branch employed chemical engineering discipline developed in the united states as the core knowledge of the new branch. The program teaches the students to apply math, physics, chemistry, biology, economics, and relating engineering to design and operate chemical plants that convert raw materials to desired products. Besides chemical engineering contents, the subjects taught in chemical technology at the program’s onset also embraced the relevant technology related to the emerging industries, which were ceramic technology and food technology.  Thus, chemical technology at Chulalongkorn University is the first step of developing chemical engineering education in Thailand. Later on, several universities have offered chemical engineering programs in their universities.
